The newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu was on Tuesday decorated by President Muhammadu Buhari and the outgoing IGP, Ibrahim Idris.

This took place at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Adamu served in the Interpol Headquarters in Lyon, France as a specialized officer in Economic and Financial Crime directorate, where he rose to become the first black African to be the Assistant Director in the Interpol headquarters in Lyon, France. He later became the Vice-President of Interpol.

President Buhari announced Adamu as the new Police IG, as Idris is set to retire from the Nigerian Police Force having attained the statutory retirement age and number of years in service.
