National Assembly has lambasted president Muhammadu Buhari over statement that the Nigeria has recovered from recession and that Boko Haram has been degraded.
Buhari stated this on Wednesday when he came to present the 2019 appropriation bill.
While he was speaking about the strides of his administration, the members of the National Assembly started to shout “nooooo”, “nooooo”, “lieessss”.
The shout was loudest when he said “the economy has recovered from recession”, and that Boko Haram had been degraded in the North-East.
At some point, the President got visibly angry, abandoned his prepared speech, and told the lawmakers: “Distinguished members, let us conduct ourselves properly. The world is watching us; we are supposed to be above this.
Immediately, the house became quiet, but only for a while as the shouts resumed when Buhari spoke about the anti-corruption campaign of his government.
However, when he talked about the infrastructural project his administration is working on, his supporters stood up and start cheering him up while others were booing him.
