Sunderland owner Ellis Short has put up his club for auction before its value fall with relegation looking a possibility with each passing week. 

According to The Sun UK, Short has already put the club up for a sale with the Englishman expecting a bid of around  £170million for the bottom of the log club.

It was gathered that he recently rejected a £150m offer from a Chinese consortium fronted by Wang Hui, the owner of Dutch Eredivisie outfit ADO Den Haag.

Short is however confident selling soon. The 56 years-old is using the services of New York-based investment bank Inner Circle Sports in his search for a buyer.

Any potential buyer will have full ownership of the Stadium of Light, the 60-acre Academy of Light training ground and the 180 acres adjacent to it, which is available for commercial development.
