Private Clinics in Akwa Ibom State have 6 Months to Revalidate Registration!
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ememabasi Bassey, gave the warning when members of the Private Health Facilities Revalidation Committee presented their report to him in his office.
Dr. Ememabasi Bassey said that the re-validation exercise was long overdue in the health sector because since the creation of the State for over 26 years ago, it has not been done.

He noted that many of the previous owners of private health facilities have since died or retired and their establishments were being run by quacks or non-qualified persons with very poor standards.
Dr. Bassey explained that medicine is dynamic and a lot is needed in the health sector, pointing out that the State will have a directory of all private and public health facilities to ensure that sanity is brought into the system.
Dr. Bassey said the Ministry is stepping up the monitoring exercise of both public and private health facilities for greater effectiveness.
The Commissioner commended members of the committee for a job well done and said the exercise will enable the public have access to health care services noting that Akwa Ibom State Governor, His Excellency Sir (Dr.) Godswill Obot Akpabio (CON) JP, who is passionate about the sector has spent much to bring in modern facilities to actualize his vision.
The Chairman of the re-validation committee, Dr. Comfort Archibong, commended the Commissioner and Permanent Secretary for seeing the need to set up the Committee, which is the first since the creation of the State.
She said that the re-validation exercise is to ensure that all private health facilities operate with safe and standard conditions. Dr. Archibong therefore urged the operators to ensure that they adhere to standards set by the Ministry.
