Akwa Ibom State Government has restricted movement of motorcycles in some communities in the state as part of an effort to curb insecurity.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Udoh. The statement says that the Akwa Ibom Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has place curfew in Ukanafun and Etim Ekpo communities.
“The enforcement of a curfew in Ukanafun and Etim Ekpo Local Government Areas between 6pm and 7am daily”
That the use of motorcycles in Ukanafun, Etim Ekpo and Ika local government of Akwa Ibom from 6 pm to 7 am daily has been banned.
“The prohibition of the use of motorcycles in Ukanafun, Etim Ekpo and Ika Local Government Areas between 6pm and 7am daily”
The ban on motorcycles also affects Eket and Ikot Ekpene Local Government areas.
“The prohibition of the use of motorcycles in Ikot Ekpene and Eket Local Government Areas between 6pm and 6am daily”
Government press release also restates the continued ban on the use of motorcycles within Uyo capital city.
“The enforcement of the continued ban on the use of motorcycles within the Uyo Capital City.”
The statement further directs offenders to be arrested and prosecuted accordingly
“These directives take immediate effect. Offenders will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.”
“His Excellency, the Governor reiterates his commitment to ensuring continued safety of lives and properties in the State; and urges all law-abiding citizens, residents and visitors to cooperate with security operatives in this pursuit.”
Yesterday, Governor Udom Emmanuel signed into force, the Cultism and other Violent Behaviour Prohibition Order 2018.
This bill seeks to prohibit and ban the operations and recognition or activities of all the listed cult groups as they are henceforth banned and prohibited in Akwa Ibom.
The proscribed groups are Vikings, Black Axe, KKK; Buccaneers, Mafia, Luttox (Junior Black Axe),Debam; Dewell, Icelanders, Red Skins, Pirates, Amoc, Akwa Marines; and Utoto Groups (419).
Others which are found in secondary and Primary Schools are, the Luttox, The Red Skins, St. Stephens, Dewell, Sept 11 Group, Secret Sons of Satan, King Cobra, J.V (Junior Vikings), Bats, Predators, Black Ladies, Black Cross, Scavengers, Skylolo , Sons of Nights, Blood Brotherhood, Junior Buccaneers, White Angels; and Musket.
