Napoleon Adamu, the spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba state has been dismissed.
Darius Ishaku and Aisha Alhassan
According to Daily Trust report, he was sacked by the party for accepting the judgment of the governorship election tribunal which was in favour of Aisha Jummai Alhassan, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress.
Adamu was said to have told newsmen in Jalingo, the state capital, that people of the state should accept the verdict and cooperate with the winner in the interest of the state.
His dismissal followed an emergency meeting of the party’s state working committee held in Jalingo, the state capital.
It was resolved that Adamu’s comments in favour of APC had caused PDP great embarrassment.
According to the party, Adamu’s acceptance of last Saturday’s verdict which nullified the election of Governor Darius Ishaku was a conspiracy against the interest of the party.
The tribunal had at the weekend sacked the state governor, Ishaku and announced Alhassan of the as winner of the April 2015 governorship election.
Ishaku said he will appeal the decision, adding that it is still possible that the Court of Appeal would reverse the judgment and give his victory back to him.
Meanwhile, the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu described the tribunal’s judgment as a victory for all women.
