CONDEMN OFFSHORE OIL POLICY NOW, CHIEF NDUESE ESSIEN TELLS ETIEBET,TOYO NOW
A former Chairman of the PDP South South Caucus in the National Assembly, Chief Nduese Essien says he is shocked that no APC stakeholder in Akwa Ibom has risen to condemn the obnoxious onshore /offshore oil dichotomy, suggested by a presidential committee
The Mallam Nasir El Rufai- led APC Committee Report on Restructuring as regards control of natural resources is a clear and an unambiguous way of re-introducing the already abrogated evil onshore/offshore oil dichotomy through the back door, Chief Nduese Essien has said.
Chief Essien in his reaction, expressed dismay that notable leaders of APC in Akwa Ibom such as Chief Don Etiebet, Chief Sunny Jackson and Chief Otu Ita Toyo have failed to speak out against such a policy that is against the progress of their state.
“But I am seriously disturbed by the conspiratorial silence and deaf ears paid to this issue of oil revenue in the APC Committee Report by well informed Akwa Ibom APC chieftains like Atuekong Don Etiebet, Obong Sunny Jackson and a vocal person like Otu Ita Toyo”
The former Minister who was also worried that the state chairman and secretary of the APC , spoke in total support of the report said, “As a patriotic Akwa Ibomite, political persuasion not withstanding I am saddened by the Akwa Ibom state APC chairman/secretary sinister interpretation to some extent because of their narrow mind and misunderstanding that they can still hold onto APC and be happy even when it is destroyed economically.”
