There are indications that the authorities of Benin Republic are allegedly taking over some border towns in Kwara state.
Kwara state governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed
This Day reports that the Beninoire authorities were said to have invaded 16 villages of Okuta in Baruten local government area of the state.
The alleged invasion has left the villagers in tension as the authorities of the neighbouring country have already gone ahead to construct Gerdarmes Office (Police station) in the affected Nigerian communities.

In line with that, the Francophone country was said to have also hoisted their national flag at the 16 Nigerian villages.
However, it was also learnt that the development has led the Okuta Emirate Council to order the people of Yakparu axis to dismantle the Beninoire flag hoisted at Nigerian villages and that the flag is currently at the custody of the emirate council in the town.
The neighbouring country and Nigeria had over 100 years been respecting the borderline since the creation of both countries by France and Britain. But with the latest development, it seems there is currently a disregard for that delimitation treaty.
The report discloses that the affected Nigerian villages include Ogomne, Bwin, Gandasunon, Kpuru and Woru Wuren Kparu.
Others are Ajuba 1, Ajuba 2, Saka Yeruman Kparu,Monta, Dotin Kparu,Halidun Kparu, Yakubun Kparu, Sonsi,Gunosani, Alhaji Kparu,Yodo Mankparu and Simen Kparu.
It was not certain whether the Abdulfatah Ahmed-led Kwara state government had already been briefed about the development and there has not been any official statement regarding it.
Meanwhile, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a suspected drug trafficking cartel at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu state.
According to a statement issued on Friday, November 13, by Mitchel Ofoyeju, the agency’s spokesperson in Lagos, two officers of the NDLEA, Daniel Goska and Ndubuisi Ughor, who are indicted and currently at large, have been dismissed and declared wanted.
