The world class Ibom International Stadium is a modern day replica of The Allianz Arena, home turf of Bundesliga and European Champions, Bayern Munich.the best of its kind in the whole of West Africa.
The breathtaking 30,000-seater capacity stadium, is not just a facility for football alone but has an eight-lane tartan track which surrounds the main-bowl football field for the purpose of athletics already certified to meet the IAAF standard to host any track and field events.”
The contractors have spared no machinery in the conceptual design of this masterpiece which is detailed and breathtaking already installed, is a power plant capable of generating enough electricity to the entire complex when in maximum use.
The Ibom Stadium which is a six-level facility has the athletes and fans zone on the level one and two of which the third floor is an access area to other floors. The fourth and fifth floor houses the media zone and the VIP area.
Interestingly , the VVIP has a seating capacity for 90 important guests fitted with a bullet proof glass covering the front view of the VVIP arena.
The scoreboard is of the latest technology while the 300 floodlight is of 2,000 watts capacity each enough to illuminate the entire playing arena to give semblance of daylight.
In terms of security, it has installed cameras powerful enough to read SMS on the mobile phones of fans when focused on any particular area inside the stadium.
In line with FIFA standard, there are exit facilities that can guarantee the evacuation of the entire 30,000 maximum capacity crowd in six minutes in case of an emergency.
More cheering news to the legion of Nigerian professional players in Europe who hate playing on artificial turfs due to their nature of causing injuries is the fact that the Ibom Stadium main-bowl is of natural grass, an option that was considered as the state lies in the tropical rain belt of the country.
Over and above ,there are facilities that can guarantee uninterrupted water supply to the stadium which Has A finely cut out main-bowl ,warm up area for track and field, a training pitch and parking lots large enough to accommodate cars of fans and VIPs.
It will interest you to know that the Akwa Ibom State government has already signed a 10-year contract with Julius Berger Nigeria Plc for the maintenance of stadium billed for commissioning by President Goodluck Jonathan on The 7th of November 2014.
Governor Godswill Akpabio confirmed this to the NFF board that inspected the new stadium. “Having spent so much to put up this edifice for the good of Nigerian youths we cannot allow it to be poorly managed.
We have already signed a 10-year agreement with Julius Berger Nigeria that built the complex. The stadium is built with sophisticated facilities and it is a project that has challenged governance in Nigeria.
