The Osun State Police Command has arrested 29-year-old Rasaq Iyanda for allegedly removing the pant of his co-tenant’s teenage daughter while she was sleeping.
The police disclosed that the suspect had on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, around 2am at the Dalegan Compund, Osogbo removed the pant of the girl who was sleeping outside the room because of heat.
Narrating the incident, her father identified as Mr Raheem said the girl’s cry woke everyone up when she discovered that her pants had been taken off.
Mr Raheem said he consulted a herbalist who told him that the perpetrator lives in the same compound with him.
However, one of the tenant’s who suspected it will be Iyanda, called him and warned him to confess or await the consequences of his action.
Iyanda later confessed to perpetrating the act, he took them to where he hid the pant , claiming that he did not know what came over him to carry out such act.
He pleaded guilty to the one count of indecent assault preferred against him when he appeared at the Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo, on Tuesday.
His counsel, Mr Tunbosun Oladipupo, applied for bail on his behalf and promised to ensure that the suspect would be available for trial.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Joshua Oladoye, however, objected to the bail application.
The Magistrate, Mary Awodele ordered the accused to be remanded in the Ilesa Prison and adjourned the case till March 12 for ruling.
