Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane said on Saturday that playing for a title against Barcelona is always special when the two giants of Spanish football meet on Sunday at the Nou Camp in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup.
Speaking about Barcelona’s recent changes, Zinedine said Barca’s playing style will not change despite having a new coach Ernesto Valverde and losing Neymar to Paris St Germain in a record-breaking transfer.
“Barcelona has great players and a very clear way of playing, they might change coach and he can give different things to the team but their playing style is clear, we all know it so I don’t think it will be a match of a lot of secrets, they know us too and it’s a match that will be defined by little details and we hope to be very focused and make very few mistakes.”
“Barcelona are Barcelona, we know how they play and their idea of playing will not change. You can change a player, as I said Neymar is a player you can’t find someone like him, but the ones who play will do it fine and that’s it. It’s a mistake if we think tomorrow it will be easier.”He said
Zidane said striker Cristiano Ronaldo is fit to play on Sunday at the Camp Nou, despite having only had a short summer break after playing for Portugal in the Confederations Cup.
“Cristiano is ready and he is doing really good, he has had vacations and has been with us for five days now, he has worked a lot physically during his holidays so he is ready to play with us.”
Local media reported a supposed new contract of the French man with Real Madrid, Zidane said he is happy about his situation at the club.
Centre back Jesus Vallejo is injured and will miss the Clasico, along with Croatian international Luka Modric for the first leg due to a suspension dating back to Madrid’s last appearance in 2014.
