The Super Eagles of Nigeria arrived Durban yesterday morning ahead of 19th edition of the Nelson Mandela Challenge against South Africa which will be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium this Wednesday 14 August 2013. Kickoff is at 20:15 pm (7:15 pm Nigerian Time).
Already, Bafana Bafana is hit by withdrawal of key players for this match. Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund informed that SuperSport United duo of Bennett Chenene and Innocent Mdledle are out due to injury and he has opted to replace only one player (Mdledle) with Marc van Heerden. Chenene had been called up as a replacement following more withdrawals last week.
A few days ago, the Bafana coach was forced to withdraw six players from Orlando Pirates to allow them time to prepare for their Caf Champions League clash against Egyptian club Zamalek on August 17!
After their match with Nigeria, Bafana Bafana will fly back to Johannesburg on Thursday to prepare for a clash against Burkina Faso.
Nigeria themselves have also had a few withdrawals in Kenneth Omeruo from Chelsea and Emmanuel Emenike. Omeruo is out injured while Emenike could not join the Mandela Challenge party as he has recently completed a move to Turkey.
