Meet Sunny King – Nigeria’s Fast Rising Filmmaker Taking African Cinema to the Next Level

Sunny King is a director-producer of shorts and promos.Founder of OAKMAN FILM. Like most filmmakers, his first taste of the film industry manifested as a runner in a low budget feature film.The experience left a huge impression on him and led to making independent films  of his own.

He worked in supporting role in Beeban Kidron’s ‘Hippie Hippie Shake’ and was runner-up on Project talent UK 2007. He had his first short film ‘Signs’ selected for the international film festival 2009. He won the GMA awards for best international music video 2011.

His latest production called “Unspoken” screened at the premiere of Nollywood movie “Last Flight to ” to a resounding success.

It made the top 10 finalists out 526 short films worldwide at Afrinolly short film competition.”Unspoken” has also done several film festivals like Buff Film Festival, Africa in the Pictures Festival,Film Africa London Independent Film festival, Cinema Africa in Sweden and the 6th international WAMMFEST  Women and Minoritties in Media ()

UNSPOKEN also won Best Film at the London independent Film Festival 2013. Its currently being developed into a feature.

SYNOPSIS
‘Unspoken’ is a short drama.Its a story about two best friends. Two days before lola’s dream wedding, Sandra the maid of honor stumbles on a secret that could jeopardize the relationship between her best friend and her groom to be. Unspoken is a story of commitment to love and friendship in the face of societal taboos we dare not confront or speak of.
