Biafra: IPOB raises alarm on impending military attack

– IPOB says the launch of the Operation Python Dance by the military is not necessary in any part of south-east because the area already has peace

– The group warns that it will hold the south east governors responsible if any life is lost due to military presence in the region

– IPOB calls on the international community and other relevant human rights organisations in the world to take note of the actions of the military in the south east

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has described the launch of “Operation Python Dance” by the Nigerian Army as a plot by the federal government and the governors of the south-east zone to unleash terror on its members in the zone.

The group in a statement on Tuesday, November 29, by its media and publicity secretary, Mr. Emma Powerful, noted the launch of the Operation Python Dance is not necessary in any part of south-east because the area already has peace and security, Vanguard reports.

IPOB which suggested the south east governors had fore knowledge of the military operation warned that it will hold the governors responsible if any life is lost due to military presence in the region.

“We are not in a military era and the governors should let them know this and tell the Federal Government to remove all the military men and equipment stationed in the South East, whether they call it operation python dance or what? We must hold them responsible for these atrocities committed in our land.

“We are calling on the international community and other relevant human rights organisations in the world to take note.  because our lives are in danger,” the group said.

Recall that Nigerian Army launched ‘Operation Python Dance’ to help quell agitations for secession in the south-eastern part of the country.

With the establishment of the new operation, the Army has warned all secessionist groups against acts capable of threatening the nation’s sovereignty.

Vanguard reports that the warning came through a statement from the deputy director of Army public relations, Col Sagir Musa, in Awka, Anambra state.
